FAQ and NECESSARY INFORMATION
where is it?
RED HOOK! 352 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn, New York (linked)
what is tintype? what is Goodness + Truth Studio?
Tintype is an antique photographic method producing unique, handmade images. Inherent to this chemical process, each photograph is made from scratch to finish, on site. Everyone who handles a tintype of themselves or a loved-one understands the intrinsic value of these irreplicable and precious artifacts. Many report that the medium has a certain ancestral, ethereal quality.
Goodness + Truth Studio is the tintype portrait project of lens-based artist Eric Thornton. It is a moveable, public project which champions an antique photographic process to create modern portraits while activating public spaces.
To us, the uncanny ability of tintype to bring people together, and the unique way in which it empowers the individual to interact with the making of their own image, is its true beauty.

additional session info
tintypes are unique, one-of-a-kind artifacts; there are no “duplicates.” if you would like more than one, we will shoot more!
each session is “one shot” unless we deem reshoot necessary. additional plates may be purchased; otherwise added to Goodness + Truth Studio archive
images are archival, which means long-lasting
each portrait is 5”x4”
the amount of people who can fit on one plate varies on account of … variables. one-to-two beings in the frame is the comfort zone, but we are always happy to accommodate a squeeze
we might not be able to send you home with your portrait the same day! with this analog chemical process, each portrait needs to be carefully washed, dried and varnished before it’s finished. sometimes, we’re too busy to complete production until the next day. if so, we will plan to coordinate a pick-up/drop-off with you, or gather your information for shipping
